As far as microwaves. If you don't have a crew room, try the ops location like a previous poster said. Can be hit and miss and often means not being able to heat your meal. I found it wasn't worth the trouble to rely on heat-and-eat for lunch, honestly. It's better to pack an extra sandwich and save the bigger meal for the hotel.

x2. Not only are the health benefits profound, but the cost savings are significant. I use PBJs for lunch (cold meat sandwiches if its a short trip), frozen leftovers for supper, and instant oatmeal packets/hotel continental/protein bars for breakfast. Airplane water bottles and beverages for liquids: no vending machine stuff. Oranges, carrots, cheese sticks, home made cookies for snacks. I eat pretty well for $6-7/day. "Getting food" costs that much in one wallop. If you're lucky. Most places are twice that for one meal. The only time I get food these days is if something unplanned happened or the crew's eating out on overnight.
