Default Commuting to a Regional ORD/DFW

Hi guys, I'm in need of some info that will help me decide where to apply. I'm married with kids in school so moving to my base isn't going to happen. ORD and DFW is commutable for me and MCI is a drivable distance (3hrs). Minimizing the pain of commuting is at the top of my list for considerations, so I need a little help knowing which places will allow me get ORD/DFW. MCI would be my top choice if I can get it as my first base. Any Republic guys know if this is a likely option?

Second option is probably Envoy if I could get ORD, or really anybody else that will allow me to hold ORD/DFW.

BTW, I'm military but have been in/out of the cockpit for about the last 6 years. I have the time mins for a major but no 121 experience and abysmal currency. Any insight about who would most likely allow me to get ORD/DFW/MCI would be appreciated.

I recently flew with a guy from MCI (I'm ORD based). He said the commute wasn't bad. Second-hand info of course, but it's something.

Just curious where do you live? It sounds like you really need to apply at Envoy and Republic for sure. I applied at 4 different regionals. Once I was offered a job at all of them I made my final choice.
Feel free to PM me.

I'm in south central Missouri. I just noticed Trans State in STL as well, that would be an option for me, and probably better than MCI. My plan is kind of the same, I'll apply to my top 3 or 4 and choose from there assuming I get offers. The interview experience will be helpful.

RAH is stopping AA flying at ORD which consisted of 4 airplanes. We still have over 100 lines of United and Delta flying in ORD.

Unless you live in, or plan on moving to NY, take Republic off your list.

Looks like Envoy has some flights to both DFW and ORD from COU, if that helps you out at all.

SGF is a maintenance base for envoy too so a lot of flights out of there.
