How does one company expanding drag the market down? It sounds like the management of skywest is making better decisions. If you're mad about losing a job or something along that lines it was your companies fault. I don't work for them. Just saying. This seems to be the only place I know of where for some reason people feel like some other company should honor their contracts. Go see if IBM, AMD, Apple, Intel, Ford, GM, or virtually any other company out there isn't doing all it can to expand and make money at keep their employees working.

If company A goes in and buys company B then chops them up and sells them to make comp A's standing in the market that much better there's nothing wrong with that. I don't understand why everyone here seems to think it's company As fault for company bs performance.

The only obligation to be made in this industry is that of our government. Since the government is comprised of all those under it they are the ones who need to look out for us by means of not allowing foreign carriers to operate within our borders. One airline taking over anothers routes still needs people to fly them and in the grand scheme of things the total amount of jobs out there won't change much. However if foreign carriers are allowed to come in then the industry can get hit.

What did SkyWest management do now? Also, what are the rumors as to why Ron Reber stepped down or was replaced?

What does my main man Slaphappy think about this? Slaphappy = Keeping it real!

ASA management will for sure blame the closure on pilot pay... Another way to convince the gov't appointed mediator to fu*k us on our pay scale for the new contract.

Another example of another low cost rip off airline lowering the bar for the rest of us. Good luck to the cheap ass mofo's taking over LAX.

So SkyWest is a bunch of *******s cause they are sending a grand total of 6 pilots to ATL? I'm not sure if you noticed, but they've been flying out of ATL for a couple months now. Now they're just making sure a couple pilots are nearby for some coverage. As of now, they are no longer taking away any ASA flying. No SkyWest pilot is flying a single 200 or 700 out of ATL. While I suspect the 900 ATL flying will continue to grow on the SkyWest side, it's been well established that SkyWest would fly the 900's for some time. This is not news. I'm not sure why LAX is closing, but it JUST opened. It didn't work out. Companies close bases all the time. It was open for a couple months, I don't think you can make a case for it "ruining a lot of people's lives." It may be an inconvenience for those that decide to move back or commute now, but it didn't RUIN THEIR LIVES. Your post is kinda ridiculous. SkyWest is not responsible for dragging the industry down, as you describe. Quite the opposite, they are proving you don't have to be the cheapest on the block to win a contract. We are certainly not the cheapest 50 operator, but we still won the Midwest contract.

yeah,, just a few reserve guys.. thats all it will be!!! man dont be so naive. it has nothing to do with pay. see, what you and toilet duck dont get is that this is our industry. Like he said, we don't really care about hp, or ibm, or the other industries and their problems unless we have friends or family involved in it. Just like the average joe doesn't give a crap abou asa, skywest, or anyone else. all they care about is the cheap ticket. The difference between us and other industries is we could get together and get everyone on the same page. all we are doing is hurting eachother. and in doing so taking the industry down a peg. So your thinking is what is really ridiculous. Not seeing the big picture is ridiculous. Everyone knows that those 900's were going to asa before delta sold them to skywest. Skywest took them from asa because they fly it cheaper, so they shut down slc, take the planes, and then all the sudden close a base in lax. now they are slowly putting guys on reserve in atl???? man dont be such a tard and think about what you are saying.
