Did nobody bid for DCA in that 5/15 class or is it trending maybe a little more senior? I go to class August 7th and am really hoping for DCA

No DCA awards from indoc since the 5/1 class. One person received DCA as a monthly bid for October and that was a backfill for an awarded captain upgrade. You don't bid for bases in indoc per se. You rank them all from most wanted to least wanted and the company assigns bases to the new hires based off of their seniority in their class and what bases the company needs pilot's in. If the company needs 30 pilots in LGA, 30 pilot's will be assigned LGA... With all the remaining planes coming on property this year being United and without looking into it too deeply, its not an unrealistic bet that United bases will see the majority of new hires going forward. |
Is the October award for MCI really helpful? I'm 01/17 and got it in July, so that seems off. I know a senior guy bid into the base but that's not really representative of how quickly one can hold it.
I'm not trying to be a turd but I lack tact after this many B-BAB's. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Nevermind, I see that the upper list isn't just newhires. Du'oh. I'm gonna go back in my hole now.

Thank you for posting those updates.
This is super helpful |
July's info at the bottom.
I have added the number of awards for each base starting with July's base award and will continue it going forward. This will indirectly help with determining how seniority is changing within the base and the overall flow into the base.

The Bottom chart shows the relative seniority of someone awarded a base via our monthly base bids, which are awarded 4 months in advance of your actual move into the awarded base. This Bottom chart can be skewed though, as there may only have been one person awarded into the base and they may have been a more senior FO. This is why I have added the number of awards for each base per month as of July's chart. If you are consistently seeing 2-4 awards per month and they are all senior DOH's that's likely the actual trend. So you have to look at both charts to see how the overall timeframe looks for that month and then compare It to the previous month's timeframe to see if the base is holding a relatively stable trend or not. In a single month, if both charts would show the same length of time from DOH, then that base would be considered to have a very stable time frame of getting into. *May's most Junior FO was 7 Months from DOH, and an awardee of 5.5 months from DOH *June's most Junior FO was 4 Months from DOH and an awardee of 6.5 Months from DOH *July's most Junior FO was 3.5 Months from DOH and awardee of 6.5 Months from DOH So as of July 1st, the most Junior FO physically in the base has been at the company for ~3.5 months. For the base awards posted in July, which were for the Month of November, the most Junior awarded was a 4/18/2017 hire, meaning that person will have been at the company ~6.5 months before they move into their new base. So realistically, you are looking at 4-7 months from your date of hire before you physically will be in the base based off of July's charts. This also matches the overall trend of the May-June-July time frame. Because of the number of bases we have, the fact that we are not base locked, and the fact that our flying can slightly change on a month to month basis out of each base, it's just about impossible to calculate a precise trend for our bases. At the beginning of the year everyone was getting LGA, EWR and DCA. PIT is where I live and was my base of choice, in the last few months of 2016, it had gone super senior, and I calculated it was going to take me 9-10 months from date of hire to get based there. I have it starting in September which will put me at 8.5 months from DOH to when I'm physically in it. However, it has since gone junior again and is on the verge of me classifying it as a new hire base because of the amount of new hire placements there in the last two months... The new seniority lists have come out so I will be posting August's update tomorrow when I get home. Overall though, I don't think there is a single base that has a wait time of over a year to get into due to the upgrades and attrition we are experiencing. |
