So I start this week at Indy. Curious as to packing tips and the amount of luggage to bring amongst other helpful tips?
In another thread someone mentioned not to worry about packing heavy for training. Reason being checked bags are free, and you're not going to be moving around much. I don't want to have to do laundry every other day, so I'm going to bring a bunch of stuff.

Most of my class brought 2 bags. Most of us said we will go home and repack less for the sims.

Question for pay during training. The per diem after 30 days is that paid in a lump sum at the end or do we see it on each paycheck?

Also when is the Indoc where they send you home to study going to be implemented

You get paid on the 15 and last day of the month. So depending on when your Indoc classdate is in relation to the pay periods, it should start to be included in your third paycheck when you see the normal MMG kick in. At that point everything is normal as far as pay goes, so it is every paycheck.

No clue, they have not said anything about it to the people already on property...

Commuting question
Hi all! Question regarding commuting. I am debating if I need to sign up on travel enrollment for commuting? Back in the day I'd just show up to "jumpseat" and get a seat in the back. Now apprently you have to list yourself? Is this through non-rev such that I have to pay the $75/year on AA, etc? I don't plan on my family traveling right now so I'm not worried about getting them on but more wondering what the process is for commuting. I have a couple of days left to sign up for this year.

Question about reserve. How long should we expect out of training?

Totally dependent on base. Anywhere from a month to a year

You don't have to have enroll in any travel stuff to jumpseat. Though apparently it'll help on AA if you have benefits, not sure though because I don't commute.

Can anyone tell me how easy commutable trips will be out of the gate. I understand it depends on base. Im hearing New York you can get a line pretty soon ( again depends on timing). I will be commuting from Minneapolis so am trying to see if this is going to be possible. I hear these go more to the senior guys. The last thing I want to do is end up going somewhere and having short back to back trips that keep me stuck in a base with no time at home.
