Reserve Rules
Hello
I’m a fairly new FO on reserve and still am having some trouble understanding reserve rules/fdp limits etc. is there anywhere I can read up on these to get a better understanding? I’ve been reading through the contract but there’s not much in there and they did absolutely nothing in indoc to help explain reserve to us.
If some of you can share some tips that would be helpful. This month I got put on R3A reserve. I did have a question regarding my one reserve Period. They assigned me 6 days in a row with R3A, I was under them impression this was not legal? FAA FDP limits say no more than 5 consecutive duty periods within the circadian low window. Any input?
Chris.

Read the contract FAQs as well as the contract. As for 6 consecutive days the WOCL only applies to FDPs which reserve is not. Here’s ALPAs 117 guide, it actually answers your exact question in the reserve section. http://www3.alpa.org/portals/alpa/co...nts.pdf#page26

To echo what others have said, cross reference your Article 7 questions with FAR Part 117. It will explain the difference between a Flight Duty Period (FDP) versus a Reserve Availability Period (RAP). We've got a great group that will happily answer any of your questions. Are you a member of either the facebook pilot group or the union facebook group?
