I hear Republic has a really high wash out rate, and it makes me second guess whether or not to choose them.

Last i heard it was 93% pass, with AQP being introduced for all 2019 classes

I am fairly new. I finished training end of September. Been out on the line since. My class had washouts

Let me assure you right now

Republics training department is good. And they WILL get you extra training If you need it. But If you got 4 extra flat panel GFS sessions and you still barely get off the gate in 45 minutes as a pair.....then when you get to sim 2 and can’t even complete the entire thing the company is gonna have to let you go.

The washouts are examples like that. It’s always either they didn’t put in the work needed whatsoever, or they just simply were not cut out for this kind of training environment, and If you don’t pass training you won’t survive the line.

Our training failure rate for initial is very close to other regionals. You will get multiple chances, but honestly it’s up to you. By no means are we trying to fail a new hire out, but we have to maintain the standard. Many feel entitled to the job, and don’t apply themselves. That’s a big mistake, because they will terminate you.

Heard from a source in the recruiting department republic don’t giving additional sims right now in training . How true is that?

Don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised at all. With how backed up SIMs are and the fact that they are flooded with new applicants and trainees, they can afford to be more selective.

btw, wash out rates and training failures are not made public. The only way we know is from other people in their class posting it on here or hearing about it on the line.

Not entirely true, but you better have a good excuse for extra training. Don’t show up unprepared for training. I would have flow down for GFS 1, because not knowing your flows will increase to to get off the gate.

BTW the training department has definitely became more strict in the past 12 months. It’s not just intitial qual, but also continuing qual as well. As other posters have said, we have classes backed up, so they can be very strict.

Just finished training and now on the line. You’ll pass if you put the effort in... if you don’t, you won’t make it through. Easy as that. They won’t baby you through training, it’s the real world now. You’re given the tools to succeed, it’ll be up to you to use them. I wouldn’t let a washout rate turn you away, it’s a great company to work for and I love it here.

My initial class started with 18. 2 were let go due to PRIA/background check issues. 1 withdrew due to personal issues. The 15 who remained all passed with no additional sims, and nobody has left since (with the exception of an ex-military guy who went to Southwest.)

What I’m hearing from current instructors is this:

If you are disciplined, and put in the work, you’ll pass. If you goof off at home during the self-study portion, you won’t.

Hope that helps shed some light on things.

I went through a couple years ago for initial...out of 20 in my class 2 or 3 didn’t make it. The guys that struggled seemed to be the ones that left town on the weekends instead of studying or left class with a ton of questions and just seemed kinda clueless about everything. If you don’t understand something, speak up!! The instructors have all been great, and will answer your questions. As others said, they aren’t there to spoon feed or pick up slack when you aren’t putting in the effort though.

Don’t text in class, take notes, study hard during your free time, don’t leave town every day you have off, and there’s little reason why you shouldn’t do well. It’s not rocket science..I wasn’t a straight A student and I did ok, just had to put twice the effort in. Also don’t show up to day one of sims without knowing flows or you will have 10x tougher time while you’re fumbling around trying to figure out your flows on top of other things.

Don’t sweat the washout unless you’re the type that has bad study habits. Overall I think it’s been a very fair process even recurrent.
