IFR?CRM? AutomAtion?

In my experience, it's been mostly poor time management way before sim. Aka not studying flows, callouts, limitations, systems, etc., then getting to the sim and knowing nothing you need to by that point. I've seen a few guys get passed on through EFPT that probably shouldn't have, then get hosed when they get to the sim. EFPT is designed to correlate everything you've learned on your own to actual routine, not to teach you procedures that you haven't made a tremendous effort to learn on your own, which is where I think some guys get it wrong. Lesson: study, know it, do it. No time for teaching by the time you get to the sim. Every lesson is packed, and you will use every minute of the 4 hours every session with very little time for do-over. Time spent teaching in the sim is time lost toward progressing toward the next lesson, and once you're behind, it's tough to catch up. They'll give an extra sim or two, but you don't want that either trust me. Any do-overs you may have make you instantly fireable.

Couldn’t have said it any better buddy
The company wants you to succeed and so does instructors but the guys who tend to washout aren’t giving them anything to work with . I’ve seen guys come in unprepared no paper or pen some didn’t even remember what lesson they were on , iPad not charged up enough and also not knowing their flows and call outs .

How are sim partners picked? Just a free for all? Also, are upgrades to captain in the same sim sessions as new hire FOs?

You either buddy up during indoc or you're assigned one. Lol no they wouldn't dare put new hires with upgrades. That would be a f'ing disaster.

Regular sim sessions you’re paired up with someone from your class but for validation you’re paired up with an instructor captain

When I went through in 2013 they had upgrade transfers from CHQ with new hires. It really was a great experience and helped out in my opinion. Obviously it doesn’t work now because upgrades are on a short course and new hires take the full course.

If I study the E170/175 study guide and memorize callouts and flows. Is that being prepared enough?

Did you get the base you wanted? What did most of the people in your class end up getting for a base? Hoping for an ORD base..

Thanks in advance!
