From a pilot’s perspective it really doesn’t mean much to you - at least in the context I believe you’re curious about.

Yes, have a maintenance issue outside of a maintenance base (line or maintenance hangar). You will see some form of contract maintenance come out to the aircraft to take care of you if some issue arises.

When you have a maintenance base, you know your airline will have in-house maintenance support at that station.

In a grand scheme of things, sure it doesn’t make a big difference. Also, if you are a commuter. You can except a lot of your metal to be pushed through maintenance bases.

That’s what I meant between

Most junior upgrade award is a 10/19 hire. It moved like 10 months in just the one month. We're rapidly approaching 1000 hour upgrades.

That is great for anyone who wants to upgrade. Upgrade as soon as you can are start getting that PIC time. Get hired by a major airline in the next year!

Once you hit 1000 hour upgrades, what follows are unfilled upgrade vacancies. That is a terrible place to be as an airline. It means that you are losing captains faster than you can upgrade them.

You mean they’re running out of warm bodies to upgrade to the left seat? Republic could be in a very difficult staffing position soon…

Just as I predicted on here earlier this Spring. The way we were getting used post COVID it was easy to see that movement would happen fast sooner than later. 2500TT 1000 Part 121 SIC and you will upgrade.

Republic dug their own grave on this one. By closing 3 popular bases in the last year it caused people who would have stayed at RPA and either upgrade and get that TPIC time or wait for a call from a Legacy during this hiring wave to instead leave at the first opportunity to ACMIs, ULCCs, or even to Corporate.

No question. This is great for movement right now, but is a perilous sign going forward. I suspect we won't be alone in this.

I'll give you MCI, but it's not Republics fault MIA and IAH closed. UA and AA just cut our flying from those bases to 0.
