What others have said is true. If you want go to AA, don’t go to a wholly owned unless you’re willing to wait 5-8 years for that to happen (wouldn’t recommend doing that). However, if you like United or Delta and would like the flow as a backup, then it’s a great option. Piedmont/PSA/Envoy will likely get you to UAL or DL quicker than anywhere else except maybe an LCC.

Republic is a great place to work. I couldn’t have asked for anything more during my time here. It has really exceeded my expectations.

Getting hired from Republic/SkyWest or anywhere without a flow can make it a little more challenging, as you can’t really be “poached” but also are still contributing to the causes of all of the codeshares. In a way, it can be viewed as a lose-lose in terms of being an appealing candidate. However, you can get to wherever you’re trying to go from almost anywhere in the current climate. I have had better luck hearing from legacies, particularly AA, at a much earlier point than I thought realistically possible.

It starts with going to the recruiting events (NGPA, WAI, PAPA, etc.) I made the trip from the east coast to Cali twice in less than three weeks to go do meet and greets. I can say with certainty that spending that time and money will have a significant positive impact on the outlook of the rest of my career, and I can’t recommend it enough to the next person.

If you’re willing to put in the time and effort, you’ll get to where you want to go regardless of whatever regional you go to. Best of luck!

I have been those threads from outside never thought I will be asking questions but here I go.
I need some advice from people on property.
I’m in the cadet program for republic, I received a CJO from endeavour. If I go republic I will live on base, and if I go the endeavour route it will be around a 2 hours drive to the airport.
Like the guy that started the thread my end goal is AA, which one do you think is a better option in my case, would it take me longer working for republic to get to AA?

What are the potential class dates for each airline?

It’ll take 500-1000hrs to get to AA from Republic.

With Republic they delayed all classes to an unknown day, and Endeavor it was in June but it got delayed as well.
I also applied to ULCCs hopefully I hear from them soon

That's not really accurate unless you have significantly more TT than 1500 and/or turbine time prior to starting at Republic. Even then, that's not common.

Sorry to be blunt, but you are never going to get the answer you are looking for because these types of questions are dumb and pointless. There is not "set time" and a "specific regional" that triggers somebody to hire someone. Hiring environments are in constant flux. That means the "when someone meets their standards" is constantly changing.

If the airlines are your goal you need to do these things:

- Constantly improve your resume. Don't listen to idiots who say "all you need is to fog a mirror to be hired". Although the hiring environment may be good at one point, it can change at a drop of a hat. That may be right at the moment you are qualified to go to a 121 airline. People who listened to those idiots last year are now sitting with less than 25 hours multi-time and 1500 hours and are very unattractive to most Regionals hiring right now. Guess what? They are going to keep flight instructing for a lot longer than they originally planned because they rested on their laurels. You want that moonshot and go to a ULCC right away? Well, you better stand out over everyone else. What are you doing to improve your resume?

- Apply to all regionals and take the very first class date. You are not safe until you are in class day one and secure a seniority number. Accept every CJO and accept every class date, once you have completed the first day of indoc somewhere, call everybody else and tell them I appreciate the offer but I have chosen to go with xxxx. In this environment, take that class date even if it turns you into a commuter. New hire regional class dates get canceled and pushed back all the time these days. Until you are in class day one you are at risk of delaying your career.

Sorry to be blunt and I do remember what it was like to be new once. But you can ask this question 1000 times on 1000 boards and the answers you get are irrelevant to someone that is not even in the industry yet. Also for all those people who have their sights set on a specific forever airline, the majority of the people in this industry do not end up where they first hope they would have ended up.

Just to update this, don't shoot the messenger, but, ....While in training last week the C-level rep came in and spoke for a little while and answered questions. He said RAH is going to ramp up hiring again in May/June of this year. He also said there are 200 (ish) in the hiring pool. Of course, they are likely in several other pools as well....

He wouldn't give specific numbers.

I'm not saying this to suggest people should necessarily plan on it, simply passing on the information. We all know how quickly things change.

^He is right ya know…..

I’ll also add that you are still a long ways from entering into the industry at this point. Things will be different by the time you reach ATP minimums from what they are today. How will they be different, nobody knows.

With that point in mind, my advice is to focus on Flight Training and getting your certs at this point. Then turn your focus to time building. Also you are doing that, keep a close eye and observation of the industry and hiring environment and pay attention to the trends…. Troll APC, Jetcareers, Flying sub Reddit to try to keep a pulse on what is going on at your immediate step.

Nothing wrong with asking questions, however I think you will be better suited on focusing questions on flight training and paths of time building. Once you are about halfway to ATP minimums, then it will be time to start asking questions about the next intermediate step in your careers (Regionals/ULCC/ACMI) depending on where the hiring environment is at during that time.

I was new at one point as well. My plans and desires changed as I progressed in my career. My career flight plan I’ve developed when I was in your shoes and actual career flight path taken looks very different. I still ended up at my desired career carrier that I wanted when I started. However, during the grid of working up my career ladder desired carrier changed multiple times at things changed. That’s the beauty of this career…
