Hi everyone. I'm looking for some info. on current contract negotiations at Republic. I read on APC that a strike is authorized, but I can't find any info. on time-frame and how far along the contract negotiations are (or are not). I'm well aware of the pay and work rules so I don't need a re-hash of other threads on this site. I'm just trying to figure out what is going on with the contract and what a new-hire would expect over the next few years in terms of the negotiations taking place.
Besides pay, are there any major sticking points on this contract?
Is the fence between shuttle, chatauqua, and republic under discussion?
Any other pertinent CONTRACT info you think a potential new hire should know?

Pay is not the only issue with the current contract. There are work rules issues as well. I can't really answer your questions about the 'fence' as you put it, but I can tell you that getting from one certificate to the other as an FO is nearly impossible, and if that will change is anybody's guess.
We really don't have much information, but I can almost guarantee you that we will not have a new contract until we are on the verge of a strike. Again, it could be soon, could be years.

The company says they want a new contract ASAP, but their actions indicate otherwise. We'd have a new contract right now if our pilot group were willing to sign a copy of the old CBA with a 2% raise for FOs. Fortunately that's not going to happen. The overall opinion from the line is that we won't have a contract until 11:59pm, the day before we are allowed to strike. That could be in 6 months, or years.
As a new-hire I would expect that the second we find ourselves properly staffed, you will be held as contract hostages (temporarily furloughed). It happened in 2003, they tried it again this fall, and the only reason we don't have involuntary furloughs now is because of attrition and the increase of flying we just got for DL.
Isn't Expressjet hiring?

Go to express jet better work rules and better pay
Go to Skywest for the same reason
Go to colgan they are adding 15 more q400s
We just lost our zed fare benefits because the company doesn't care about non revving employees
We didn't get a raise for last 5 years and there is no end in sight for a contract.
