Never get released. The NMB is owned by the airlines and years from now, they'll still be waiting for self-help.

In spite of the wisdom that your 2,586 APC posts may entail, I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

Asking for release and getting release are two VERY different things.

Best of luck to the RAH pilot group in getting a CBA that is LONG overdue.

That said, was Comair 2001 not the last regional pilot group that actually struck? I know Mesaba went past the deadline, but don't think they ever actually officially "walked out".

The difficulty you guys have in getting a release would be RAH's hands in so many different airlines. If their mainline partners put the right amount of pressure on the NMB, you may not get a release. That said, you guys need a better contract and I truly hope the release comes and you guys knock it out of the park.

The pressure from the other airlines will be on Bedfords back.
Stay strong IBT Brothers and Sisters my prayers are with you during this difficult but necessary time.

Spirit is a niche airline; they don't codeshare with legacies. Apples and oranges young man.

No, Spirit in the grand scheme of things is insignificant. They have limited market share and quite honestly fly a demographic of people that the powers to be (i.e. Congress, the President, etc.) simply don't care much about.

RAH on the otherhand flies for every legacy airline and composes a good portion of the flying for 3 of them. A strike from RAH would ground a lot of flights and cause a huge uproar from ****ed off passengers (remember they don't care how much or how little pilots make, only that their tickets are dirt cheap).

That uproar would reverberate with nervous Congressman, Senators, and even the President himself. All before going into an election in November? No, release won't happen because no one will want to rock the boat. If it was a smaller carrier then maybe, but not a carrier as big as RAH.

It sucks and I wish the NMB would release RAH or any other carrier that gets to the point they have but unfortunately there are political realities here that will prevent it from happening any time soon.
