Default Republic domicile question

Before anyone starts bashing me for considerg this, I would like everyone to know that I am aware of many people's opinions of Republic. For anyone familiar with Republic, what is the likelyhood of getting Kansas City out of training? Thanks in advance!

you will most likely get any base you want before you are done with training.

that being said, in light of recent news, i have to seriously ask you your thought process about coming here?! this place is about to file bankruptcy and no matter what happens with the TA, go through a massive reshuffle and downsizing. im seriously asking you and not trying to attack you. im assuming you live in KC to even consider republic as a place you want to call work?

Exactly..i don't live there, but my family wants to retire there. I will finish up my military time in a couple years still, so that will give things some time to simmer down or explode i guess. It may just make my decision much easier. St louis would also be doable as well, but don't really want to commute if i don't have to. Anyway thank you though for the honest answer.

If you have a few years before coming to the airlines, the answer to you question could be completely different when you retire. I don't work for Republic, but at any airline (especially regionals), bases open and close all the time. A base that is junior today could be senior in a few years, etc. Just something to keep in mind if you still have a few years to go.

Chances of bases being the same after ch 11 and downsizing? My guess very slim

No problem, and thanks for your service. Never was at YX but Im assuming its the same as s5, pilots leaving in huge numbers and just about any base on any certificate you should be able to get, or at least very quickly. Home based is seriously one of the best things a pilot can ask for, thats why I came to RAH. That being said the schedules suck now something horrendous and I can only imagine they are unfortunately about to get a whole lot worse. Choose wisely, good luck and dont accept a 145 class!

In a similar boat as OP, what are schedules like in MCI? How big is the base and is it likely to stay open for a while? I know that's a crystal ball question and republic closes bases a lot but just trying to get an idea.

I'm also aware of everything going on there, just keeping options open.

If you know you have time, I'd worry about all of this until later. Right now just grab some popcorn and enjoy the clown show.

I know i should wait to think about these things, but i really want a job secured by the time i get out which is why i ask now, so i can get an idea. My friends tell me to just apply to the majors, but with just over 1500...1503 to be exact, i'm not sure i would be too terribly competitive, but i guess in 2 years you never know. I am preparing myself for the regionals though, which is why I am asking about MCI as an option.

Never hurts to apply. May as well throw in an application and see what happens.
