I thought you were the OP.second account. He posted on this forum with both accounts. So I thought you were him. I dunno, it's been 7 years since my first post on this website.

So since I already "introduced" myself above, what is the general thinking about the viability of Republic long term? Will they survive? It looks like a big jump in pay, but what is the upgrade time? Where is the most junior base? Has there been any movement for Republic guys to move to the majors?

Thats alright. I got on Flightinfo.com in 2005 and I just never signed into APC until last spring just because I knew my bro was going to be looking for a job. I have been lurking trying to pick up info for him, but it seemed like the OP on this thread was taking undue heat. I must be getting old......

Yes. See above.

No, I deserved the ridicule... If I told you that I mistakenly responded to a post from another’s account that would be a lie. You got me… My name in Real Life is Vladimir Putin, and I have 19,076 accounts that I manage on Airline Pilot Forums. My diabolical plan was to gather information on Republic’s training program for my own nefarious purposes.

And I would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn’t for those pesky meddling Troll Detectives!

Now that my sinister Modus Operandi has been established, I shall continue my evil quest.

Does anybody happen to know of a FSX payware simulator product for the Ejet that is better than “feelthere”? The “feelthere” product is great, but a Ejet guy has looked at it and said the MCDU leaves something to be desired. What’s the best Ejet home sim product you have heard of?

Although there is a lot of speculation (on this board) regarding RAH's future, it is looking more and more like the worst days are behind us. We have hired upward of 60 new FO's in the last month and attrition has slowed dramatically since the passage of our new CBA. The new pay rates and work rules are significantly better than our competition, and the company has to play nice in order to keep attracting new hires. They have implemented all of the new pay rates and protections, as well as the new rigs, min day, per diem, international per diem, and premium pay a month before they were supposed to be put in place. Pittsburgh has traditionally been the junior base, but EWR and LGA have been growing quickly so a new hire has a good shot at those as well. Upgrade is dropping under 3 years on the 145, 4 years on the 170. We are losing people to every major, all the cargo operators and LCC's. Hope this helps. TT

Ill go out on a limb here and give you the benefit of the doubt that you aren't trolling. If that's the case, power down the flight sim, step away from the PC and step towards the fridge. Grab a beer and relax. You will learn everything you need to learn in indoc, systems and the sim. If you try and teach yourself how to fly you will have a lot of un-learning to do by the time you get to FlightSafety. It can be tempting to try and get a leg up, but you will never get enough info to get a serious head start. Just my 2 cents.

I had not considered negative learning, good point. I guess the driving factor in my class prep quest is to not repeat my last experience. I interviewed for my last job, was in class less than a week later with no time to prep. I had a constant feeling of being behind the learning curve for the entire time. It ended well, I scored high on systems and passed the sim ride, but I did not enjoy that feeling of uncertainty that led up to success.
I think what would have helped me last time is something a bit more than a 2 page list of numbers to memorize before class. My new company, Republic, did send me a fair amount of things to read about in their study guide, but with out a Operating Manual to go in-depth, its really just a bunch of rote memorization.
