The SWA LGA airplane that met a similar fate left on a barge after being repainted and wrapped.

Is it back in the air?

No. Removed from service and stricken.

During the Continental strike they mashed one at LGA, hid it in a hangar and did the barge thing. I often wonder just how many flew into LGA and sailed out.

Seriously. This never would've happened to a former 145 driver. Tail strike? Maybe. After 10 years on the Jungle Jet, the muscle memory from "catching the nose" with that unboosted elevator was one of the toughest habits to break. Much more finesse needed in the Boeing.

I’ve seen lots of people let the nose drop on the 145, usually cause they land with an excessive pitch attitude and bleed too much speed before touchdown. If flown properly the 145 can be landed quite nicely (13 years and 11000 hrs in it), gently lowering the nose to the ground during rollout.

Hey, disappearing and ending up in the river is nothing new to NYC.

Isn’t that why they have the Marine terminal?

I'm guessing there was a little more to do this than a hard nose drop...

You usually get 2 bounces for free.
