is this AirPort HOU? I don’t think American Eagle has MDW service…. Flight aware shows DFW to HOU and back for ENY3338.

They could install something like this, no functionality except to illuminate when flipped on. Could also be installed in a separate housing and glued to the panel, to avoid having to STC. You could even build your own and carry it with you (I know, one more thing to forget and leave on the plane).

My bad, it was Hobby, not Midway. The video doesn't mention which airport and I took a quick look at Airnav.com and assumed it was Midway. Zooming in on Google maps satellite view it was Hobby, the big terminal is to the north just like in the video.
this is too bad. Envoy had (still has?) a good technique that the CA threw one bank of light switches for LOW, the next bank for TO. Same with cleared app, cleared to land.

Envoy 338 told to "line up and wait" on 13R. SWA 2683 is on short final for 4R. Envoy starts rolling, SWA is sent around. It doesn't look like they were that close this time.
The airlines really need to mandate a "cleared to takeoff" switch. Most the places I worked we used the landing lights. They didn't come on until we got takeoff clearance.

If one misinterprets a clearance, I’d think it’s even easier to flip a light switch out of order. Yeah, I do a little of that taxi light thing for landing, but it’s extremely secondary.
The main thing with close in or ground ops at a busy class B airport is an 110% alert level. It doesn’t matter what seat you’re in. With bad weather, night, unfamiliarity, ramp it up more, brief it, save the checklist until lined up on the parallel taxiway. Yeah, even listen up to what others are doing, which leads to what you can ‘expect’.
