Envoy 338 told to "line up and wait" on 13R. SWA 2683 is on short final for 4R. Envoy starts rolling, SWA is sent around. It doesn't look like they were that close this time.
The airlines really need to mandate a "cleared to takeoff" switch. Most the places I worked we used the landing lights. They didn't come on until we got takeoff clearance.

I use a piece of paper in a clip for LDG clearance reminder. Wouldn't be a bad idea for TO clearance also.

Mine is complaint with policy.

T/O checklist completed: deploy landing lights (off/unstowed)

Cleared for T/O all 3 on. (Nosewheel from taxi to T/I and 2x wing mounted lights on)

I really hate the feeling you get when clearing the runway and switching over to ground only to realize you're still on approach freq......

Landing side 10,000 feet, ding the FAs, wing landing lights on.

Cleared for approach taxi light on.

Cleared to land, landing light on.

Thanks to B K, the LCA who did my OE. "Hardest part of that seat is the light switches" he had his compliant with policy technique, explained the pro/con to them real well, but made them "suggestions vs my way during OE"

I had been out of the cockpit for almost two years between Covid, reserve deployment and surgery and new to the Airbus when I upgraded. Fantastic LCA.

It made sense, I ran with it.

I did that. Once.

Lucked out... it was the middle of a four-day but at my hometown and the controller and I had met at a party once. Sometimes better to be lucky than good.

Landed 22L BOS, turned off, called, answer was, "Cleared to land."

Just another day in BUR. My all-time personal best for departure RA's was three, on a sunny Sunday afternoon.
