Yes, this one is all on the twr. Evidently, according to AVHerald, UAL was inbnd with issues, and CFR was positioning for that arrival. I am surprised those on the fire trucks survived. Sad day, may the JZA pilots rest in peace and everyone else heal well, heal fast.

I’ve only landed at LGA 30-40 times, but why on God’s green earth would anyone with issues requiring pre-positioned CFR go to LGA? Medical emergency and planned destination, fine…but mechanical. Especially with a large hub at EWR. Maybe it was a post flight or taxi out issue and this report is wrong and they were reacting to an on-field issue.
As always we’ll learn hard lessons taught by the lives of those that were unlucky enough to be there and not us. God bless those lost and their families.

The last line of defense “clear right clear left” before barreling across the runway in a truck apparently didn’t happen. R.I.P. Jazz pilots.
Stay safe out there, we just had another serious runway event in ORD a couple days ago.

This has nothing to do with the actual accident, it the lead up…

Yeah they could have swerved at the last second and put the plane in the ditch... likely would have rolled wing separated, fire, etc.... Maybe many more injuries and deaths? But then look at the Canada RJ crash last year..... :-( CVR will be interesting.
