Duffy just said as much in a press conference. Now I guess we can count on that fact.

The United aircraft had rejected two takeoffs at about 80 knots. They were back on the ramp when they declared an emergency due to a flight attendant reporting she was not feeling well due to fumes in the back of the aircraft.

I’m wondering what kind of training ARFF personnel get regarding maneuvering on the airport and the dangers associated with that. I know at my airline (and probably most others) we have to verbally verify the runway in question, and verbally state clear left/right before initiating the crossing. The truck in this instance did none of that, which I personally find unconscionable. If ground control clears us across a runway, I don’t just cobb the power and cross without looking first. Hell, we teach kindergartners to do that when crossing a street. So preventable.

I haven't heard any mention of the Runway Status Light system. Maybe I missed it.

One of the podcasters was pretty sure that it was working and on.

So ARFF people need to be trained to comply with RWSL (regardless of clearance), look both ways, and have a right-seater to "Clear Right".

A podcaster knew the lights were on, right.

I thought they were on in one of the videos I saw. But we'll know soon enough, I assume the prelim will address that, it won't be had to determine.
