Default GPS issue?

I know feelings toward Juan Browne and his blancolirio YouTube channel generally range from unfavorable to worse, but his all too premature evaluation of the medevac crash from Roswell going in to Ruidoso NM, a short flight (51 NM ) that should have been easily within the capabilities of the pilots that ended up CFIT into just about the only terrain in the general area high enough for them to hit, that he is positing was due to GPS jamming out of WSMR or the McGregor Air Defense Artillery Ranges.

While the REAL investigation is yet to be done, it does point out that even seemingly routine night VFR flights in the local area can lead to disaster if there is complacency about GPS especially in forested areas with lacking or ambiguous visual cues. And while medevacs can be lifesaving, they ought not to ever be considered all that routine, because they have an unenviable record of mishaps - especially at night.
