The audio has air france being told to hold short for traffic which obviously they didn't do.

Op's check good!

It's more than a fender bender. Have to wonder if a tail bent that much, and the twisting of the fuselage, can be repaired.
Maybe not, at $22M new it might be cheaper to scrap it for parts.

I guess they can do a heavy check, rebuild the LDG gear to be safe, and go over the structure with a micrometer to check for warping. Plus the new tail.

It might cost more to fix the 380 than to replace the RJ if they have to tear open the wing structure to check for damage.

and this, my friends, is why you keep your seatbelt on until you reach the gate. I just love the people that have to get their seatbelt off and be the first stand up...to go nowhere!

I don't feel like going back and listening to the clip again, so admittedly my memory may be off, but what I heard was the A380 get cleared from his ramp to turn left onto Twy A and then to hold short/give way to traffic at Twy KD which is much further along A than where the collision occured. The collision occurred at Twy M and I never heard Ground give any warnings to Air France to give way there. By the same token, I'd be surprised if the Air France didn't at least see the CR7 waiting to enter the ramp at M and just didn't judge the wingtip clearance correctly

I haven't heard the archive audio, so I cannot speak with 100% certainty, but the clip that has been posted is edited (so further clearances may have been edited out) and that feed is a scan of both ground frequencies (so other clearances may have been scanned over). There's most likely other conversations that took place that we're not hearing.

I doubt the Capt would be get away

But yeah, that was no fender bender. Damn frogs anyway...was it just me or did they have indicated airspeed on that taxi?
I doubt the capt would get away scott free, drug test or not. They did not maintain wingtip clearance and hit the Comair jet.

Wow. The CRJ was tossed like a toy. Crazy. Had to be super startling for everyone on the CRJ.
