Obviously these pilots must have failed the hearing portion of the medical.

Ever heard the saying, "Those who have and those who will"?

Or maybe they were wearing noise cancelling headsets.

Did you hear that horn? I don't know of any noise cancelling headset that would filter out a sound in that frequency so well that it would be inaudible by the pilot.

Not only were they dumb enough to ignore an incredibly loud and annoying gear warning horn, they also posted it on the internet for all to see! Gotta love the internet age...

One thing that was interesting to me was how quickly the aircraft came to a stop. I thought it would have slid a lot longer.

They should have changed that aural warning to something much more annoying, like a track from Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus

Those that have and those that will for sure.

I was giving an instrument check in the Navy. We were at a little airport doing a VOR that had a fairly significant course change in close. The guy getting the check was pretty focused on making the turn since we were in a DC-9.

"Flaps 15," he says. The gear warning horn starts blaring.
"What?," I asked.
"Flaps 15," he says.
"I can't hear you," I said.
"Flaps 15," he yells.
"I can't hear you over that horn."
"Shiite, going around," he says and executes a missed approach.
"Good idea," I replied.

Its amazing, but hearing is one of the first things to go when you start zoning in on a difficult problem or an emergency procedure.
