23,000 off airport landings. I'd call that quite experienced, yet the ground can still jump up and bite you! Be careful out there!

It seemed like the approach speeds for that cub were high.

Possibly a video issue? or
Obviously mountainous so higher altitude - therefore higher TAS or
I just have a bad eye for what Vref in a cub should look like.

Loni is a legend in the supercub world. If anyone wants to see mastery of off-airport operations just watch his 'Cubdriver 749ER' dvd's. Very glad he's ok.

That wasn't his PA18 either, but a highly modified PA11 Cub special
