NTSB statement on Cargo fire protection

Good news for cargo carriers
This would seem to be a step in the right direction for the cargo carriers.
I'm sure it isn't the first time such steps have been recommended - but consistency can be key.

Maybe a small step...the FAA always applies cost/benefit analysis to NTSB recommendations.
In this case the cost is very high and the benefit is saving the lives of a couple freight dogs each year...ie effectively zero benefit in the eyes of big government and their corporate sponsors. At least until a flaming freighter crashes into an orphanage.
Some of the big-name operators may install suppression systems (relatively cheap) just to fend off pressure from their pilots and avoid a public battle over the issue.

Being a cargo pilot myself, this is of the utmost importance. Does anybody know what are the implemented fire suppression and detection systems that FedEx and UPS are installing?
Any word from your unions on pilot actions in case of these type of fires?.....according to the NTSB report, 2 1/2 minutes is what we get between fire alert and total lost.
