NEWARK, N.J.

United Express plane from Rochester, NY, blows tires while landing in NJ, veers off runway

The Associated Press

Authorities say a United Express plane from western New York has blown four tires as it landed at Newark Liberty International Airport and veered off a runway.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey spokesman Ron Marsico says Flight 4480 from Rochester was landing Sunday night in New Jersey when several rear tires blew. He tells the Star-Ledger that the plane veered onto a taxiway and didn't strike anything.

The plane was carrying eight passengers and five crew members. No one was hurt.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the tires to blow.

ExpressJet was operating the flight. Its spokeswoman tells WNYW-NY that the passengers were bused to the terminal.

"Blew Several Rear Tires"? What are we driving trucks now?

Never take that anti-skid for granted.

Four-man augmented flight crew plus one FA, so max flight and duty day can be extended for the RJs to operate ROC to EWR.

Seriously...I'm guessing deadheading crew.

Only thing that comes to mind that would cause all four tires to blow out on landing would be the parking brake was set..

I believe Eagle had a plane blow out all tires on landing...and it was the parking break set.
