Only if it works, and it may not. There is a failure rate associated with restore points. It may not be successful, or even available.

Actually I was thinking about jamming the port with 5 minute epoxy. It would hold if there is a good bit of space in the port for it to occupy, otherwise it could be pried out. Another thing you could do is fill the port with conductive grease, which may be better than damaging/ plugging the port because a thief will just think he has a bad connection and quit. Definitely might be worth it to get one of these locks and see what it takes to secure it.

That might work, but what about the next crew? I'd rather share the responsibility with the company to find suitable lodging. My rule of 3 for a suitable layover hotel is Safe, Quiet, & Clean. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it's not those 3 I'm not going to get good rest. Finding other suitable lodging may not be an option for every crew, but it is under my contract and it get re-embursed, so why wouldn't I?

Doesn't always work
I have had many maids enter the room with all the above going on and I was in the shower or napping.

Don't you guys use the deadbolt?? I also put my luggage (on the luggage rack) in front of the door!

I've never had anyone try to open the door while I was in it but walked in on others a couple of times when the front desk made a mistake....that was fun!

How do you use the deadbolt and put luggage in front of the door when you leave your room?

The issue is people's stuff getting stolen while they're OUT of the room.

If somebody tried to steal my stuff while I was IN the room...

The stuff that I brought on trips was so old and shoddy that a burglar broke in and replaced it with better stuff.
