Hotel Room Door Key Hack
#12
Actually I was thinking about jamming the port with 5 minute epoxy. It would hold if there is a good bit of space in the port for it to occupy, otherwise it could be pried out. Another thing you could do is fill the port with conductive grease, which may be better than damaging/ plugging the port because a thief will just think he has a bad connection and quit. Definitely might be worth it to get one of these locks and see what it takes to secure it.

If one is given a room that doesn't have the fix, I wonder if a small screwdriver could be used to physically damage the female port such that no connection could be made by a hacker? Might suck for the hotel, but then they should have installed the fix in the first place.

Doesn't always work
I have had many maids enter the room with all the above going on and I was in the shower or napping.

Don't you guys use the deadbolt?? I also put my luggage (on the luggage rack) in front of the door!
I've never had anyone try to open the door while I was in it but walked in on others a couple of times when the front desk made a mistake....that was fun!

How do you use the deadbolt and put luggage in front of the door when you leave your room?
