Default Lithium Ion Fire Demo

By some estimates, with laptops, phones, tables (pads) we are out flying around with 500 or so of these on board.

Reminds me what my charcoal BBQ recently looked like after using matchless charcoal doused with lighter fluid and using it for the for the first time after 5 yrs of gas grilling only.

Why is the laptop up on stilts? I've never seen one have feet like that? Does that provide more oxygen, and feed the fire more than under normal conditions, and could a laptop self extinguish under normal conditions?

I have a stand similar to that for my laptop, when I know I'm going to be loading it up and need slightly better airflow to keep it cool.

No. A Lithium Ion fire creates it's own Oxygen and self sustains. I'd imagine they ran the test this way so they could see the underside during the test, or maybe to isolate the test from their workbench.

So what would you do with that fire on your airplane? We don't carry Class D fire extinguishers on my regional airplane.

You land on an airport, off an airport, or ditch. Then again, I just had about 40,000 pounds of these roman candles onboard.
