Default Jazz Q400: More Gear Issues?

This passenger probably doesn't realize how lucky she is...

Incredible.....how is this not on national news....a propeller lodged inside the cabin??? It definitely looks like a gear failure but obviously an investigation will sort this out. Concur....she was extremely lucky.

I have no knowledge of Q400, other than as a passenger. I thought the main gear looked goofy, just looking at it. Is there something else wrong with the design/engineering?

It has a history of failing to lock down, resulting in collapse on landing.

Thanks rickair, Seems they need to get someone on that... The fallout/repercussions from this issue have already cost way more than it likely would have cost to fix the problem.

Those (and other mx issues) may be the reason that a certain large US regional didn't buy a whole bunch of Qs.

The Q400 is a late-model derivative of the Dash 100/200/300s series airplanes which I believe enjoy a pretty good history as far as gear reliability is concerned. Makes you wonder if the gear is much different than the earlier ones.

I only flew the -100/300 but I do believe the main gear is of a different design. And, as well, I think it's made by a different manufacturer. Seem to think it was Messier-Dowty for the baby Dashes, but I'm not sure who produced those for the Q400.

It has been a while since I flew the Q400, but I remember the reason for the wheels falling off as a MX procedural error. I was told that the procedures replacing the left wheels was different than the right wheels, and some mechanics didn't catch it. Of course, I did hear that from an instructor, so it is probably BS.
