I live in Atlanta...that’s why I’m asking. I fly heavies in the military and am at 20 years but am holding off on retiring until the airlines pick back up. Working for Frontier in Atlanta and not having to commute is tempting though.
I'm willing to bet money that if you want ATL, you can have it.

I'd bet that too. In fact, I think TPA will be a relative mix in seniority (senior at the top, but junior at the bottom). The only RUMORED base that I think has a chance at going senior (for Captains at least) is PHX.

Unfortunately we are having troubles getting bases west of the Mississippi in the near term it seems. Maybe 2022?

So it seems. I'm genuinely surprised PHX didn't make the cut this year. Save for WN competition, it's hard to see a downside to moving in on PHX. AA has scaled back, little ULCC presence, growing market with people fleeing Commiefornia. Hopefully in 2022.

My natural reaction is that the majority of the west coast people moving here are more affluent and wouldn't want to travel on frontier to begin with. But then I remember the sheer number of Basic Economy passengers I'd have to wait behind before getting cleared on Delta commutes, as well as the similar clientele I see on WN and AA flights. So hopefully you're right, because I would love to work here and keep hoping PHX will eventually be a base. Finger crossed on both.

I would have guessed PHX before TPA but ATL actually makes sense to me (though I was surprised at first). Delta is currently weak and now is the time to move in and grab some market share if Frontier wants a presence in ATL. Our ATL flights are often full so it makes sense to grow there. PHX is the same thing as far as load factor, but AA will likely be weak for a lot longer than Delta. There will be time later to add PHX, but the window of opportunity for ATL is likely small. 2022 sounds reasonable to me. Right after they announce the BNA base. 🤪

"Weakened" is probably a better description. The big "D" is never truly weak, and they will defend their turf vigorously. I agree, though. Critter was able to grow ATL and eventually thrive until poor MX/crash of 592 in MIA. The merger with AirTran seemed to fix that.

We know that the load factors are there.It's all gonna come down to gate space.

Considering the company’s past reluctance to ever show their cards, I’d imagine the contract for gate space in ATL is already signed.

Considering what happened last time with gates in ATL, I have to assume you are right. If we didn't already have gate leases signed, I can't imagine we would have made any public announcement.

And if Im wrong, ATL isn't going to work for us. Delta won't let us gets gates if we don't already have the deal signed. Delta can't compete with us on ticket prices at all, so they need to keep us from securing gates instead.
