I hope you are correct, PHX was happening until COVID. I heard RSW as well from another crew member who'd heard it "from a good source" the other day and I was in disbelief. I can't imagine the chaos that one even near miss hurricane could rain down on an airline with four Florida bases. It wouldn't be D-0 anymore, it would be D-Day, as in how many days late we would be cleaning up a mess like that. It would make the December '16 meltdown look like a day at the beach. A good weather WESTERN base like PHX please, crossing fingers and toes...

It seems F9 wants to set up a base in or near every one of our large bases. Things that make you go hmm. SFB/MCO. FLL/MIA. LAS/LAS. PIE/TPA. PGD/RSW. IWA/PHX.

My take on it is that we were going to increase the flying in/out of Florida anyway because it's a large percentage of where our customers come and go from. The disruption due to severe WX events would happen anyway with the increased exposure regardless of where the crews are based and having additional crews based in FL would likely help mitigate disruption to a certain extent.
