Quote: Well said.

By the way, shameless plug, back in 1999 I missed a Delta flight and it was my fault, I was very sorry and after $50 ticket change fee and I was on my on the next flight with a confirmed ticket.
There's missing a flight, and then there's tubing it.
In your case, sounds like you showed up late at the airport and did your best to work it out. Also, doesn't sound like you had one of the deeply discounted tickets loaded up with restrictions available these days to minimize the expense in exchange for a loss of convenience.

In Spanky's case, sounds like the wife didn't bother to show and Spanky didn't even know until his daughter didn't walk down the gate at the airport. Spanky would have been able to change the flight prior to the scheduled flight, albeit for big $$$.
Buying the deep discount is like buying a lottery ticket, you place your bet and take your chances.

Quote: I think he was looking for the premium service when his daughter missed the first flight and he was just looking to get what he purchased on the return flight.
You mixed up the context of the posts. My reply was to Boogie Nights, who was complaining about the quality, or lack thereof, in airline service.

Quote: What does that have to do with what is being discussed.
Because if you're running around telling people not to patronize a carrier, you should do the same.

If you are asking him not to jumpseat on CAL because of this then does the reverse go true for CAL pilots asking for a ride on his plane?
If they're badmouthing his carrier to all their friends, yes.

And that does sound like an ingenious way to screw your ex. It's probably on a similar forum called screwoveryourexhusbandforums.com. Divorces suck. You should as a dad be able to wear a tshirt that says "my ex is nuts, I love my kids, please help." then he'd been able to pay $50 and put her on the next flight.

For the record, my venting has nothing to do with the aircrews at CAL. I am allowed to like watching Lebron play basketball but hate the CAVs at the same time. I understand that poor company policies are not set by the flyers. I would never use my 'situation' as a justification to deny a jumpseat! That said,...

I was 'less then pleased' with the customer service in this situation. I did not buy a deeply discounted-internet fare ticket. It was the standard fare on the CAL website.

I am glad that some of what I have posted has sparked conversation on customer service and who is responsible for our paychecks.

Fly Safe
