Quote: Speaking of which... from today's CAL MEC Briefing:

Last today, as an update to the seniority list integration process, arbitration is scheduled to start on April 15 in Washington, D.C. Last week, the two merger committees worked with a mediator to try and find common ground and resolve issues. Our Merger Committee was prepared to complete the mediation process prior to arbitration, but learned yesterday that the UAL Merger Committee is not willing to continue mediation. While we were hopeful that mediation might produce some tangible results, the process continues on the same timeline. Withdrawal by the UAL Merger Committee will not slow the process down and we will, absent any serious curve balls, be ready to start the arbitration as scheduled in April.
Gee, I wonder what the hangup was?

I guess our demands to staple you guys to the floor were not received very well.

This always going to arbitration. It's simple politics, the arbitrators will make the final decision and that way neither side has to take credit for it. Because everybody is going to be happy except for the number one guy and the last guy on the list who just got his first major airline gig. Nobody wants that on their shoulders..

Going to arbitration as early as possible is a good thing. The rest of this stuff was just play time to make the process look legitimate. Now we are down to the brass tacks.

How true. Wish they would have moved it along quicker.

Quote: In fact, since the merger, the L-CAL not only recalled all their furloughs, but hired an addition 500 pilots.
Fact as a UAL Furloughee I only have 130 guys below me at CAL. So no they have not hired another 500 Pilots

There are currently 542 'newhires' on sCAL's property as well as 59 in the schoolhouse. If you are sUAL, then check for yourself. The bottom sCAL pilot was sys seniority 4608.

We just differ on what the definition of a new hire is. A guy who is covered by the same CBA as you on 5th year pay given a job to fill growth in there old domiciles of LAX,ORD, and DEN is not a new hire to me.

I don't think I would call it growth, what about the LUAL guy who is flying international trips out of EWR or is now based in IAH?

Sometimes I wonder if we should of just hired off the street. Hate to say it but I am really starting to feel that way.
