You mean "If NWA furloughs pilots, those flowbacks will push you back out the door."

Simply cutting flying does not (directly) put a NWA pilot at CP. They've already done, and still are doing that.

I figured it was obvious.

If DAL and NWA merge, the will not need:

Pinnacle
Mesaba
Skywest
Expressjet
Comair
AWA
Colgan

Are there any that i am missing. The theoretically need about half of those regional that they currently have. It is a nice idea though.

I'm not sure what your point is in relation to Compass. I am sure that AWA and Colgan don't fly for Delta or NWA, which makes your post even more strange.
I am also sure that ALPA at most of the regionals that do fly for those carriers (including compass) put out a merger resolution that they will not be whipsawed against eachother, and that if Compass is given a lot more flying as a result of the merger that they will do their best to protect jobs at the other carriers. So it sounded to me like ALPA thinks the merger might be good news for Compass.

No one can tell another pilot whether he should leave AE for Compass. That's a decision you will have to make yourself. However, you should note the following facts: if you move to Compass, you will be at the bottom of the seniority list and have to go through another training. In today's climate, that may not be a good choice. Also, as pointed out here by another, if NWA starts to furlough pilots, NWA pilots can flow down to Compass and you could be the first one to find yourself on the street. Compass does not have the protection that Mesaba pilots have and that is at Compass every pilot can be replaced with NWA pilots, whereas at Mesaba only the same number of pilots who have flowed up can flow down, and so far only 9 pilots from Mesaba have flowed up to NWA. You do the math.

....or NWA attrition could take care of itself, compass could get the extra 18 options on the 76 seaters, and you are in good shape with an ATP (if you didn't have one) and a type halfway up the list. That's the thing, none of us know. Best of luck to you.

I have to go along with Lightspeed. A person has to make choices that are best for them. Good luck with your decision.
