I thought peak was already here since one of the World Airways MD-11s carrying our freight to IND was on the ANC ramp yesterday.

Nah. They will wait until they bring a few pros to the line or maybe even hire before they decide that we have too many mouths to feed AGAIN. At least I got used to 50 hour months. I am sure I can do 4a2b again in the interest of 'unity'.

They are there until the end of the year while your training department gets caught up. Apparently the 777 is keeping them pretty busy

Quote: Has anyone heard rumors of Fred buying 6 Finnair MD-11's? (And I don't want any facts brought into this discussion i.e. that Finnair only has three '11s, etc.)

I thought we were trying to get out of the '11 business, but I have heard this particular rumor on two DIFFERENT layovers, so it must be true!

Cheers,
Beertini
Quote: Pretty sure it is one from Finnair and 4 from a Asian carrier.
Quote: I also heard the purchase of MD-11s (three-five) depending upon the rumor. From differnt sources...
I guess we now know the magic number is "1", announced by Mr Bronczek.

Looks like the 777-200 comes in 3 different MTOGWs. All less than the MD-10-30.

FWIW (not much) I heard the MD-11s (8) were already cargo jets which is what makes them so economical to buy. I.E. no conversion costs. That said, it looks like Lufthansa has 4 parked at Victorville and Transmile has 4 parked at the Kuala Lumpur downtown airport. Coincedence? Smoke screen? All I really know is that a UN soldier landed in my back yard in a black helicopter and whispered this info to me. And that's all she wrote!

Well, we know this is BS because the UN only flies white helicopters

And - Yes the 777-200 would be a MD-10 replacement, hence the companies fight to keep the 777 at wide body pay.

Quote: I was chatting with a guy I commute to work with about his desire to start 777 training and the crew bus rumors swirled about FX getting some 777 from an Asian carrier for conversion. I've heard other carrier(s) mentioned too. Any truth to the rumor of a 777-BCF soon?

I'm happy on the 11 but would love to see more widebodies in our fleet.
He should go for it. I hear it pays the same as an A310 flying hub turns to Des Moines.

Exactly, why is everyone so excited about this? We should buy another 100 A310's. It is cheaper and pays the same.

Yeah... that's what everyone is saying. Because we all know the A310's can fly from HKG to MEM nonstop.
