Quote: Your timing is bad. These comments should have been made two years ago to the Union not now. The poor on time / departure performance these past months do not give you any further latitude for negotiations. When was the last $50 performance check you received?
I don't work for mesa so I don't have a dog in this fight other than working for an airline currently in negotiations as well. So I have a question, why do you think the pilots at mesa are in anyway responsible for staffing the airline? Why is it there responsibility to vote in a ta that they feel is sub-par so that they can attract pilots. Pilots are there to fly the airplanes and get paid as much as possible. Staffing the airline is the responsibility of management.

I don't think our performance is that bad. Actually it's gotten better since June of last year so I'm not sure where your going with this.

Many things being said today were said 2 years ago. The difference is the market has changed dramatically since two years ago. It now seems to be more of a race upwards (not going to say to the top) than it was.

Tired of people saying if Mesa can't pay we should go under and everyone can start over again. People put in time to get where they are and hold seniority or a position. If you don't care and feel mesa is that far off then spend less time *****ing and go on to another regional since that's where you want to be. I don't think it's great, but I'm a realist. We will never have a Skywest or Republic contract right now, could we get there sure. But Mesa has operated this way for 30 years, it's not going to change overnight. Delta didn't get an industry leading contract overnight, it was improved upon and improved upon. This is the first time Mesa has put anything close to average and parts of it are above average, we still have no junior assignments, some people would kill for that. We also finally have a contract that has raises as it goes on, then raises for periods of negotiation. Is it perfect no, but it's a start and something to build upon. Rome wasn't built in a day.

If I'm reading the TA right, now that we are actually defining FDP as it relates to line holders, it appears that if that line holders can now be assigned an FDP (say during a 3 hour DFW sit) and are in effect on reserve. Am I reading that correctly?

Two words, Stockholm Syndrome.
The fact the union has even taken a stance that they must prioritize certain things over others, for only those certain things to become near industry standard, means that their critical thinking skills have been compromised and are in fact, suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. When I worked there, the last TA, the union was trying hard to sell it, as if the Union represented the best interest of the company over the pilots. I am sorry, but the union, to do their job correctly, must take the view point of "industry leading or Mesa can and should go out of business".
They do not, and will never have that viewpoint with the current players volunteering. The pilot group also needs to help themselves and vote with their feet. They are fighting for table scraps, and an upwards or completely different move would bring them rewards far exceeding a 20 year CA position.
I understand that many are trying very hard to leave and cannot for what ever reason. I also understand leaving a CA position to become an FO again really sucks. I hate being an FO again, but the QOL improvement and pay makes it very tolerable.
