Quote: It will be a slippery slope. You'll have people who will get pregnant to avoid work and still get paid, just like what happens in the Military to avoid deployments.
These situations are rare and anecdotal. I know a large amount of women in the military and not one has ever missed a deployment because she was pregnant.

And this isn't the military. Many reputable corporations provide up to 6 months of paid time off for women and 1 month for men. Not one corporation has been worried about abuse because they treat their employees with respect. No one in their right mind would spend 6 months on paid leave and intentionally get pregnant again and again to collect a check.

It was SOP in the Navy for many years. Bad enough that they finally changed the policy so your sea duty clock froze while on maternity leave or ashore for pregnancy.

Oh really? They are stupid then. Why wouldn’t they stay home and get paid. Rinse and repeat and you can have a good 2-4 years off getting paid. Why should the company bear the financial responsibility for that?

That's why it needs to be limited, in $ value and scope.

It's good for society if kids are well adjusted. But you can't make it too good of a deal or it will be taken advantage of.

You should tell that to all those top 50 companies that they are being stupid. I'm sure you know way more than them.

Well most offices, people don’t sit 5 feet away from each other. So....it’s a little different which I’m sure you realize. Most office especially of those “top 50” work doesn’t have peoples lives in their hands. I’m sure you realized that. But that’s the joys of the free market. If a person wants that ability and benefit they are free to go work for one of those companies. But I’m sure you realize that.

The first two points are completely irrelevant. There is nothing safety related about getting 6 months paid time off. You can't just throw "I have people's lives" in my hand as a reason why. And if you're so concerned about safety in the 5 minutes it takes to pump breastmilk, you definitely shouldn't be allowed to eat a sandwich, use the lav or have a conversation. The lives of too many people are on the line.
Quote: 70-80% of the country supports paid family leave. It was going to be Ivanka’s pet project if I recall correctly.
Lots of those social programs poll high. "Medicare for all" "polls high" until it's asked again in a way that explains what it actually is and how it's paid for then it polls low.

We don't govern based on what polls well otherwise we would still have slavery.

Hard to argue with this sound logic 🤣
Again, take responsibility for your own life. Has worked for the previous 100000 years.
It selfish to ask that others pay for your choices.
It is amazing how the world has turned against those who plan and sacrifice.
And before you all call me selfish. You don't know me or the road I travel.
