If you were THE Jürgen Klopp, I would say you're right. But I keep hearing power couple success stories more often than ever.

United 756 Captain - 25 years
Gross $428k ($19k was profit sharing from the previous year)
Doesn’t include the 16% company contribution to 401k
Live out of base but have a second home in base, which is nice.

Just turned 50 and this year will be on reserve as a 777 Captain trying to fly as little as possible, so probably only make min guarantee which is $310k. The max being out helped a lot as we had a lot of equipment substitutes for double pay.

Quote: Maybe you should. Not that other issues aren’t important but I’d say how I make money is at the top of my list. And we get compensated based on a union negotiated contract. If airlines weren’t closed shop you can bet there’d be a lot of hobbyists and dreamers that we work with that would do this job for half. Once they stop paying dues the power of the union gets diminished and eventually gets made irrelevant so even willing members drop out. The result lower pay and work rules over time. You can see it in any right to work state.

its funny how many pilots think they could negotiate these contracts on a personal basis.
Your down playing government role in decisions that can support a thriving economy.

It's possible for a politician to appear pro union for a block vote, and still make terrible economic decisions that inhibit the playing feild for a union or company.

273 days off? You had 22.75 days per month off in the last 12 months? Are you counting reserve days when you didn't fly as days off?
