By the way, you were probably the last then. When I spoke with Nick, he said there were about 2 positions left. Congrats man, hope were all easy going and have some fun this season. See you the 27th.

Sent you a pm hopefully we can split a hotel during training. I'm really looking to save as much money as possible while doing this. I think we can really work together and save a bunch on food and lodging.

When I went through, hotels were paid for by the company during training. Do they not do that anymore?

I remember the Super 8 very vividly. I recommend the wings from the bar. Sport Of Kings diner is good for breakfast after a night out. Believe it or not, Batavia can be a pretty fun place. After being stuck there for a month, we left with some pretty wild stories...

Now it's just $85 a day per diem to cover hotel and expenses. I accepted, but I'm nervous about all this.

It's been $85/day per diem during training (you cover hotel) for the last 3 years or so (at least since I first did it). No prob, just bunk up and pocket $50ish a day until you get the full per diem on the road. Luckily they seem to have ironed out the timing the last couple years so you're only in Butt-avia for a few days after the training is done. I did the same month of torture sitting in Batavia that Mitragorz did my first season. You will definitely leave with stories, and those stories will be a drop in the bucket compared to the **** you'll get into on the road. Enjoy the lengthy walk past the corn fields over to GVQ, it can be quite chilly that time of year.

How do you get paid the peridem? Does it direct deposit into your account daily?

You get your training per diem once you're officially hired, meaning you pass training. That was how it was done last year. So like Zach said, bunk up and save money and make sure you have it up front. Also, one thing that ****ed me off to no end and something I let Nick hear about (hopefully he's changed it) is you won't get your first per diem check until the beginning of December. Which means the whole month of November you're living out of pocket. Yes, you'll eventually get all that money back but if you're not prepared for that, it will make November very tough. Have a big limit on your card and REALLY try to save that month if your funds are low.

Per diem can be direct deposited or mailed to your home address. It will be the 1st and 16th of every month for per diem, and salary every 2 weeks or so.

I guess they have gotten the timing down better. We started the 25th last year and I left for the first project on the 3rd. Of course I spend 10 days doing nothing in Indy cause leaves were still on, but I'd rather sit on my ass in Indy than Ba-ta-via

Pack your winter clothes to bring with you, then when it starts warming up you can ship your heavy winter clothes home and have someone mail you your summer clothes. To make it easier on them I suggest packing a small box or bag with your summer clothes before you leave.

Congrats guys =) You will have fun.

Shoulda been there my first year before he did direct deposit, and then screwed up me and a couple other guys' mailing address... I didn't get any money until mid-late December. That year we started like the 10th of Oct (he thought we'd have some leaf-on stuff) and sat around until the 5th of November or so. We were so glad to leave, half the guys flew the first leg firewalled and full rich... take a wild guess how that went over with ol' Nicky. haha
