Quick question--does Southern pay 24/7 per diem from day 1 of new hire until line-qualified (i.e. the clock starts when you enter training status and ends when you're line-qualified/finished with OE?).

Or do they only pay p.d. during scheduled training days/sim blocks/OE trips?

THANKS--flaps

You will only get paid per diem during OE. Training pay is $2,000 a month to be paid until 4 months of DOH or the completion of OE. After they take out taxes and benefits, expect take home to be about $1,700/month the first 4 months.

Interview at SA is not bad at all. In CVG on Turfway Rd. That is the main office. Give you a powerpoint presentation on company. One point to remember during presentation was that they are not getting airplanes as quick as they thought. Delayed deliveries. May wait a while for a class to start due to lack of aircraft.
After that they send you to the sim or the panel interview. Then you switch up.
Two events: Sim and Panel interview. Panel interview is a series of questions that mostly come from the HR person. Only a couple came from the pilot. At least that is what mine was like. Any failed check rides? Answer honestly. Never lie with this question. They can find out.
Sim was on a desktop thing. No buttons or knobs to twist. Computer driven by the pilot running the sim. Want a heading or course he sets it with a click of the mouse. Very sensitive to pitch. Not to roll. Use your trim. Thrust levers kind of goofy. Set up too high on desk. Very sensitive. It is a MD 80 sim set up. Will have you fly the JFK 1 with Canarsie Climb. Just look it over in your Jepps or online to study it. He will give you a hold after passing Canarsie VOR. Then vector you to ILS to 31L. You don't land so that is not graded. Fly down to 200 AGL. No missed. Unless you goof up. They let you know how you did in a little over a week or so. Very nice people. Good Luck.

Ok now I see why previous posters were saying "don't leave a left-seat at your regional for this."

Interviewing for classes that are not even planned??? ***

We have Company Leaves in the March bid packet. That's unpaid time off because we are so over staffed on the 737. I would be shocked to see a 737 class any time soon.

But sending interview invites? Thanks for the info. I see a class for about 28 march on the SA profile page but maybe that isn't going to happen.

Any inexpensive motel/lodging suggestions with transportation to/from airport and headquarters for the interview?
