Just curious - where is your friend based with NK? 1.6 years seems pretty long to be on reserve, unless that's what your friend wants/bids.

Quote: I have a friend at NK that is 1.6 in and his still on rsv. Dunno about the growth and senioirty movement whatsoever.

It’s because NK hired like 30 people the entire last 12 months besides July. Reserve times will be decreasing rapidly in most bases.

I don't keep up with hiring at Spirit, but that sounds like Spirit had quite the lull in hiring. The worrisome lull at Frontier has just been a few months, and that has been par for the course the past several years during the summer. There are 205 pilots on our list with hire date of 8/6/18 or later, and 119 of those this year. Frontier will resume hiring soon and I'd expect if we come back to this thread next year the number of new pilots will be similar to the previous 12 months or possibly slightly more.

Quote: That’s what Atlas is doing now. With older 747s. While I’m not rated in the 747 I’d be willing to bet that it is a significantly more challenging aircraft to fly than a modern Airbus. And I’ll grant you, they are mostly doing that because they want cheap butts in the seat, but it’s also a reflection of the fact that the barrel is getting down there. The bottom feeders are already scraping the bottom. Atlas wouldn’t be doing that if they could get more experienced people for $40k to start. Frontier is offering new FOs $58 an hour with a 75 hour guarantee. That’s what - maybe $60 k? And the Atlas FOs will be making $100 an hour after their first year vs $108 an hour at Frontier.

So the idea that anyone is going to keep people swimming in a pool for any length of time - at least if the applicants actually have a decent experience level - without somebody poaching from that pool is looking increasingly suspect.

Airline HR departments may have a real culture change coming their way. I hope it doesn’t catch them by surprise.
Who cares if you’re only making 62 hours of guarantee at Atlas. I don’t think anyone now is choosing Atlas over Frontier or any major.....heck even Mesa.

There will be a small class in September. It’s a test really to see how the new ground format works out. There is still no official word about full size classes but I expect oct-dec will have classes. Either dec, or maybe January they want 48 per month. Theyre recruiting new check airman and the wheels are turning. It’s gonna start up again soon.

I hope you're right! I was supposed to be in the original April class that got cut in half, been swimming ever since. A September class would be awesome news if I made the cut.

Any news on what the new training footprint looks like?
