I'm probably missing the obvious: how does one change the line right under the username? I'm referring to the one that says "New Hire", "On Reserve", "Gets weekends off", etc.

I know it's a bit off topic but I couldn't find a better place for this question.

Thank you. I will provide the breakdown of how many posts the users would have to get to jump from one title to another - We'll be updating the FAQ with that information soon. Stay tuned.

On a side note, I'd like to ask: isn't 500 way too many to get the custom title? At 1 post per working day, it'll take 2 years to get there....

N,

Since Airline Pilot Central was acquired by Internet Brands and not created by them (you), it is understandable that you might not appreciate the audience. First, in our industry, every day that ends in "Y" can be a workday. "Gets weekends off" actually means something in this industry. Next, 1 post per day is as easy as breathing, multiple posts per day is not unusual. 500 posts for a custom title is not way too many.

The creators of APC established the metric, and I think it's about right. I'm sure you have easy access to forum statistics and settings, and can see current usage numbers. What I find interesting and a little frustrating is the process that IB apparently has to go through for such a simple thing as publishing a switch setting. In about the same time as it took you to post, you could have said, "It takes X posts to get to the second title, and Y posts to get to the 3rd, ... , and 500 posts to get a Custom Avatar." It's almost like you accidentally shared the setting for custom title, but the first question in the thread (How many for a custom avatar?) from several weeks ago still has not been addressed.

Maybe you could answer the questions in the thread with specific numbers that you already have access to, and then work on updating the FAQs through the bureaucratic workings of IB at some point in the future.

Note, nobody asked anybody to change the settings -- they just want to know what the settings are.

Thank you for the reply.

First and foremost: I do appreciate the audience, especially the users who have been around quite a bit, and who are the primary reason APC is so successful. I though that, by asking a question, I would have shared this type of respect, I apologize if my comment didn't come across as "respectful" to the audience, it certainly wasn't my intention. But, please, make no mistake: I realize I am just the last one here, and I am here to help.

And thanks for your feedback -

Yes, I am going to answer the question from the user, and I am going to add that to the FAQs. The system is a little more complex than simply getting a number of posts up on the site. "reputation" and "number of days" registered w/ the Community do add extra layers of complexity, and I am about to review that in depth this week, so to be able to provide a comprehensive answer, that will hopefully read in a simple way. And I am improving the process, so these type of activities will be taken care of in a more timely manner, hope this makes sense.

I am going to PM you (and whoever is interested in having a chat w/ me, for the matter) my contact details, feel free email or call me or txt me, always appreciate to have a chat, share ideas and learn something more from experienced users, especially the ones who have seen the inception of APC. Bestest! N

Hi GlassBird,

It is advantageous to participate in the conversations on the site.

User participation will ensure a more "prestigious" user title, additional preferences and customization options.

User title:

The user title is the title line of text that displays right under the user name.

We have 4 options on APC:

"New Hire", "On Reserve", "Lineholder", and "Gets Weekends Off" are system-provided custom titles that change (advance) as a user's post count increases.

Post requirements for user titles are:

New Hire: 0-9 Posts
On Reserve: 10-24 Posts
Line Holder: 25-99 Posts
Gets Weekends Off: 100+ Posts

At 500 posts, users can add their own custom title by selecting "Edit Your Details' under the User Control Panel (User CP in the upper left of this screen).

(thanks to Car Ramrod for the pic! Looking sharp in sheep clothes!)

Additional preferences and customization options:

Additional preference and customization options are granted once the user gets promoted to a higher user group.

I have updated the FAQ with this info.

Thanks and let me know if you have any other questions.

-Laura
