Can you clarify any of the rumors surrounding the board?

I wish. I know nothing more than anyone else.

The original creator (who I do believe was a JB pilot) used to post on the site and you can find his/her old posts, but drifted away at the end of 2007. Since then there hasn't been anyone who claims to be in charge, and no moderation of the site.

I have tried contacting the owners of the domain, and the old creator every way I can think of without any luck. Does the company monitor it? Well, many CPs probably have accounts of their own to at least read for entertainment. The same can be said for this site.

My personal tin-foil hat theory is that the original creator signed an NDA, sold the site to a 3rd party, and that 3rd party manages the site (pays hosting fees) on behalf of JetBlue but doesn't have any official affiliation with the company. It is in JetBlue's best interest to keep all company whining and moaning contained to a semi-private message board, as opposed to a public one like this.

I post everything assuming the company will read it.

Recently had a FA ask me if I knew who XXXX (one of the more infamous posters) was on Bluepilots. I asked how he knew about this person/screen name and he quickly changed the subject. Didn't care enough to dive any deeper but next trip mentioned it to the FO and he said in the last week he also had another FA ask about certain screen names on BP.

Maybe the the FAs have been running it all along

Thats the most logical explanation I have heard. Thanks.

Who is managing sign ups? That guy knows who is running it.

It’s very easy to make accounts, for anyone, with any email address.

Who pays for its existence? That’s the unanswerable question, and yes, it’s obviously monitored. A few keyboard cowards there like to thump their chests, posting thousands of times for years, always myopic and circular arguments, which amounts to nil.

I was wondering what happened when about 10 new people signed up in the last few days. Thanks for the endorsement. As for the real name thing, I do allow screen names if someone really is against using their real name. As for me, I figure resistance is futile with the whole privacy thing. Just don’t say anything you wouldn’t say in public. If you want to spout off like a jackass, then jblupilots probably isn’t for you to begin with.

I think a forum with names is good for many reasons. I also believe we need to all ALSO keep our anonymous forums healthy because like it or not, JB has changed for the worse and we will now be in a negotiating cycle every 3-4-5 years. We need an anonymous place to exchange "ideas" about negotiations within the rank-n-file.

We need to be free(er) to exchange "ideas" related to negotiations without our name attached. Without that option, you will either see guys getting disciplined much more frequently for the things they say online or even terminated. Or, guys will stop exchanging "ideas" that push boundaries and the result will be much less pressure on the company and greatly extended negotiations cycle.

Yes, even an anonymous website can be sued for your identity, but we just completed an extended negotiations that was quite contentious in the final months without ever reaching the point of an APC or bluepilots lawsuit.

Some of the blueberries who don't like any harsh language about their precious CULTure may disagree, but mark my words, absent an anonymous forum during negotiations prepare yourself for greatly extended negotiations and possibly worse final outcomes. This company has already shown they will not present a serious offer without tremendous pressure from outside and within.
