Congrats
Brown,

Congrats and welcome to the pool. I have been swimming since 13 Feb after interviewing on 9 Feb. I am also hoping for ANC, but it sounds like they are reserving those spots for heavy/int'l only (I'm a fighter guy). I also heard the next two classes (3/22 and 4/4 or 4/11) are all or mostly MD-11 with another mixed class in late April.

The good news is with the number of classes, the pool might drain quickly.

Can anyone from the class that started today confirm any of this data? Are the 727 folks being mixed in with the classes this month and next?

Ugh. I hope I don't get fired before I even get there.

Seriously, I am very excited to go. I can hardly wait, but I've got a great job in the mean time flying the 737.

I'm not sure what to expect either. During the interview I was asked about my first choice of base and equipment. I said that anything with UPS would be great. I was told that I HAD to give an answer, so I said anything in ANC would be great. Then they made it clear that I had to pick an airplane. So I said MD11.

I don't think that the 737 counts as heavy, international time, since I don't get much further than Central America (sometimes South America), Mexico and Canada, but my wife and I are honestly hoping for and looking forward to going to Anchorage.

I'll glady take anything with Big Brown.

Brown congrats!

Swimming for 12 months and starting to lose the faith. Any idea many are treading in the pool (1+yrs)?

Quote: He took it immediately and was very happy with his decision, until one day he was overheard calling one of those brown delivery trucks a "brown delivery truck." He was called into his boss' office and told that he would be fired if he ever again referred to a "Package Car" as a "brown delivery truck/" So you be careful out there.

Well, that's what happens when you cross into the dark side. You are forever an "at will" employee. At least when you are an IPA guy, you only have to watch your mouth for a year.

Hey T-roy, I don't have to chill out as I left UPS and have been at FedEx for the past 16 years, thank you very much. I was trying to give Brown a heads-up. Probation is tough anywhere, but especially so at UPS, from what I remember.

Considering the airline was only 3 years old when you left, I'd venture to say it's quite different these days.

I trust you're right. But some things never change, and some things do.

Congrats to brown,
I think that the recent poolies seem to be pulled out alot sooner than the longer term poolies(those that have 1+ yrs). There are about 60+ poolies. Upside you're hired and in the pool, Downside your hired and in the pool. I like the upside. You'll enjoy ANC. If you get to a class soon then by the time IOE is done, the salmon are running. The weather is warming up and days are getting longer. See ya in ANC.

Poolies, how often does everyone update thier stats/quals with UPS. I have accumulated about 60 hours heavy international time since I interviewed. I did not have international time prior to the interview. Just wondering if its worth an update to UPS. Thoughts?
