UPS poolies

14LEDs, great credentials...however, I'm guessing you showed them your avatar in the interview and gave them your APC name which helped to seal the deal.
FWIW, in my class, six of us who had Intl heavy time were awarded the MD11and the rest of the class was awarded the 757 domestic and one 757 Int'l (SDFZ). The pilots awarded the 757s were from a variety of backgrounds - fighters, regional jets, furloughed major airlines, supplemental cargo, and military transport.
In my class at least, UPS matched your background with your aircraft.
Congrats, see ya in SDF.

Probation is no big deal at UPS, just show don't miss too many trips (I saw one guy get fired after missing three. Seems to me that two is even questionable) and wear most of your uniform. oh yea, don't use the company copier for private stuff either.

I had several episodes where the company could have been jerks while I was on probation. They were great to me; very helpful, understanding, and accomodating. As long as a probationary guy shows up for work and is honest with the company, he'she will not have any problems at UPS. Jetjok must have been at UPS way back in 1988 when the culture was a bit more confrontational.

he said 16 years ago, so that makes it 1990-91. The place was pretty bad then (I was hired in 90) but the probation aspect was pretty non existant. UPS failed more probations from us (people leaving their first year in disgust) than we did from them. I remember only one guy getting fired and that was for arguing with the company about his equiptment bid in his 11th month. Keeping quiet and accepting his right seat in the 747 (he argued that he should have no equiptment freeze for one reason or another) would have been nothing more than an intellegence test. Sitting here 17 years later, we probably should have let a few more go than we did <G>
