Quote: Yes Primarily night hub turns, at least domestically

what is decent amount? We do have “day” flying.

2 reserve periods: RA, RB, and R24

RA: 0130-1330. 1:30 call out starts at midnight
RB: 1330-0130. 1:30 call out starts at noon
R24: any report time with 24 hour notice
I’m assuming by the night hub turns you’re referring to the 000L-0400Lish show to fly to an outstation where you sit for the afternoon and then fly back to IND that night? Rinse repeat for 4-6 days a week? Forgive my ignorance, I’m not very familiar with cargo ops.

Any thoughts if anything international will happen out of IND in the future?

Thanks for all the info

Pretty much. Usually depart Indy between 3:30 to 4:30. And arrive back in Indy at midnight to 1:30am.

Define INTL?

IND is supposed to get the EWR CDG EWR etops leg....you wont be able to hold it. Its one trip about 4 nites a week dont bid indy based on it.

fedex domestic schedules are 8-12 hr of duty starting at 9-11pm for nites and doing a turn thru ANY hub and getting to hotel 6-8 am. Some variances but not many.

intl is an am launch from a hub or if you got some seniority a dead head to a crew needing an RFO. Also the RFO trip go senior and is spread out mostly among 777 and MD11.

day flying at fedex is a grind. Long days, short lyovers, delays etc.

a night hubturn to the same city every night with a short leg is starting to go very senior.

Indy is a good place to be. Even if you are domiciled in Memphis. Perhaps I could even say, especially, if you are domiciled in Memphis.

Perhaps Anchorage also. I have friends who commute to Anchorage from hither and yon, and they love it. I'd guess there are regular trips to and from Anchorage to Indy, and possibly even more in the future when we have four sorts a day in Indy. But those are guesses. The system form here is often a guess, especially when we are growing fast.

Welcome. You will be working for a great company, with great pilots.

MEM/SAV
Thanks for all the info everyone has posted here. Anyone able to tell me how long it would take a 75 guy living in Savannah to hold that MEM/SAV line every week?

There are a lot of pilots that live close to SAV that bid it. One that lives there now probably will still be there for a couple more years. Another that bids it regularly has been here 15+ years.

So, you may hold it sometimes, but to count on holding it every month, I would say 5-10 years.

it might be sobering but this is good info.

More so if you’re city has a military aviation presence (especially an ANG/guard base) there’s probably already guys and gals trying to do the same thing. I wouldn’t count on being able to hold your hometown for a while.

A wise man once told me never bid an airplane because it flies to a certain city. As soon as you finish training that city will switch to a different aircraft.

Exactly what will happen or someone senior to you will bid it.
