Kirby is a one trick pony... he tried to pull the same scope crap on us (AA). He floated it as a "trial balloon" during JCBA talks knowing full well it would fail. Then when the pilot group got all spun up and focused entirely on telling him to shove it, he pulled back and quietly slipped in other concessions banking on the fact that we'd be relieved that "at least Scope is off the table, now we can work with him."
Classic bait & switch. Don't budge an inch, keep your guard up and hold the line!

Scope and talk about scope are simply a distraction:
First a quote from the Oct. 10th MEC update:
Quote:
The polling results make it clear that pilot support for the current MEC and LEC leadership and Negotiating team is at a historical high as we approach opening negotiations for the UPA. Polling data also shows high levels of cohesion across the pilot group regarding direction and priorities for the next contract.
and then a quote from an email I received from Capt. Insler in response to a question about people getting worked up over Scope:The polling results make it clear that pilot support for the current MEC and LEC leadership and Negotiating team is at a historical high as we approach opening negotiations for the UPA. Polling data also shows high levels of cohesion across the pilot group regarding direction and priorities for the next contract.

Good Morning Joe-
Thanks for the note and your support... They don’t make mistakes by casually dropping info like that. They are trying to soften up a segment of our group. I had told them that it’s not up for discussion previously. It’s something they really want, much in the way I want a pony.
Case in point….For several years now, I’ve tried to “convince” my wife that we need a convertible Bentley. I’ve told her how good it would look parked in the driveway, how it would increase our property value, how reliable they are and how, in the grand scheme of life, we’ll save money in the long run …..and that I really just want one… instead of my 20 year old Volvo.
Every time she answers with a smile, “That’s nice, dear.”
“That’s nice, dear” is exactly what I told the Company.
There are many people both outside, and internally who wish to do us harm. However, rest assured, no one in my administration will entertain this type of discussion.
Regards,
Todd
