Rumor: UA looking to add 60 RJs
#51
The tide has slowly turned and now they're the ones who will be bargaining with a weak hand. As such, they're going to use whatever strengths they do have to convince that this isn't true and we need to help out.
They've already started banging the "costs" drum, just gently. Those who weren't here for their last bacchanal will find their proclamations "reasonable" and tell us (ala BH) that "we really have to see it from the companies POV". Stripping QOL from reserve rules will be low hanging fruit for them, to the peril of a large chunk of the group. They've been handing out SC's like skittles lately. Coincidence? I don't think so. If you don't like reserve now, just wait.
We already own SCOPE. With swelling coffers and staffing problems at the Regionals, (absent significant economic upheaval) we ought to own the whole enchilada. But all that money can buy influence and votes.
Weak sisters and Marvin's are not the only ones to watch out for. Your ox may not be the same as the other guys in your cockpit. Or, at the other end of the seniority list. The 33 year old new hire and the 63 year old Captain want different things. I can hardly wait for the bleating to begin.
"Thanks, but I already gave at the office...several times".

Obviously I disagree. Nothing in that post is not already in the public domain. You can find the same information in public MEC updates.
The "secret squirrel" crap is ridiculous. Light is the best disinfectant. Kirby's RJ talk is a head fake, and that is important for people to know and understand, and what I am attempting to inculcate. When I say such no one has cause to think twice. When the MEC says it, folks should pay attention, but somehow the message is not getting out.
What needs to be deleted is all the public handwringing over scope. It is proof for management types that a little one liner can unsettle the masses.

UCH bought the last round of EMB-175’s not the regionals that operate them and cancelled an order 737-700’s. Is that a head fake?
Take the blinders off. UCH is planning on larger and more RJ’s for domestic flying not less, and not more SNB flying.

Was RJ’s going from 50 to 70 to bigger 70 to 76 seats a head fake? Was parking 737-300’s and furloughing over a 1000 UAL pilots a head fake?

They can plan all they want but we hold the future. Right now they can't add 1 single new RJ. Fear mongering does nothing because we have nothing to fear.
Scope is locked and WE are the only ones that can unlock it.

They didn't cancel the 737 order they differed it 2 years and ADDED 35 aircraft to the order.

Scope is not locked. It wasn’t locked in 2000, it wasn’t locked with the bankruptcy gun pointed at the pilot group, it wasn’t locked when the whiteford letter was signed, it wasn’t locked at CAL when CAL Pilots voted for the JCBA. It’s in the hands of 12,500 pilots. Historically the pilots at UCH have relaxed scope every time they voted up until the last contract extension. Let’s hope it stays the same and push to tighten it down.

You can call the order modification anything you want but 65 new 737-700’s are never going to be on property here.

They converted an order for 65 lower-paying 737-700s into an order for 4 higher-paying 737-800s and 61 higher-paying 737-9 MAX. 65 for 65. Nothing was cancelled.

Anyhow, if these deferred Max's do end up being delivered, we don't know if they're to be growth or replacements.

That is some crazy spin since we’d already be flying some of them by now. A lower paying -700 pays a lot more than a non-existent plane.
