With the new tax plan that was just voted in, FedEx will see an increase in earnings of $1.5B.

They could afford improving our plan before, and now they most definitely can.

How would you propose the company use the $1.5B on the other 395,000 employees? You know, the people that repair, clean, refuel and provision the aircraft you operate?

I don’t think there’s one pilot on this board who’s implying pilots should advocate for an increase in compensation in-lieu-of any other employee at FedEx.

As with any company, any individual (or collective group of employees) must directly or indirectly negotiate their wages

Of course, this applies to FedEx as well. They must compete to retain their employees

The ultimate equilibrium/division of profits between management, ALL employees and share holders is always a nuanced, multi-faceted discussion

Bottom line, we fully appreciate and value other employees, but have no say in their compensation.

It appears as though you do not have a horse in this race. I am simply pointing out that I want the union to slow down the pursuit of changing our retirement. The tax savings provided through the new law was just another example to the union on why their idea may not be the best. I appreciate all of the employees at FedEx who work hard to help this company be as successful as it is. I would suggest that you direct your remarks to the people that can improve your wages and quality of life that will be possible by the new law.

As long as we’re talking about diversifying the eggs in the basket... what’s the consensus on profit sharing? With at least four of the major passenger carriers in the game, should we think about adding this extra leg to our retirement stool? It’s been a nice 10-20% addition for some companies. Definitely not chump change. Even the possibility to direct this money towards retirement accounts. Thoughts?
