Quote: My first post. I've dug through both Kalitta threads and learned some very useful information- thank you to those who take the time to do this. I'm an ex-Navy Hornet guy, out of currency and going to regionals to hopefully pay my dues. I am very interested in Kalitta and have met the minimums (minus currency). So here are my questions:

How do you get noticed by the company?
Do single seat fighter types get considered?
Are they good with National Guard time off?

It's never too early to prepare as far as I'm concerned. Anyone willing to PM me the interview gouge would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
I'm a current heavy driver in the Guard and just recently interviewed. Our main topic of conversation in the interview was how much they valued my military flying and how much they support reservists. I anticipate no issues. However, I do understand that they prefer to move your days around your guard days to keep you at 16. Not always though.... Example: If you just do your drill and maybe a couple FTPs around your scheduled drill days (usually first weekend of the month) they will move your schedule right to accommodate for it. If you do more than 14 days mil they'll start subtracting days from your rotation.

Good luck!

I just got an invite. Submitted app May 31, and updated a few days ago. The update might have shown interest. I'm just a regional captain.

A large percentage of our pilot group were "just a regional captain", myself included. Speaking to the new guys on the line, it's painting a picture of evenly distributing military, regional, acmi, and corporate pilots in new hire classes as of late. The military guys do get a break on the TT. Good luck on the interview.

Apply. Can't say for sure that recency/currency is a showstopper, though all in my class were current. But I can say that in hindsight, I'm kicking myself for not applying when I was available, and just limiting myself to the regionals; wish I had skipped the six months of "regionals dues"...I was called within two weeks of submitting.

- Single seat: plenty of us here, though it seems we're outnumbered by the heavy types.
- good with ANG; though we don't have the bandwidth of a DL or AA to give Carte Blanche. It's a much bigger impact to our bottom line when you, 1 of 450 guys on the line (or 1 of 260 74FOs) drops orders, vice 1 of 14k elsewhere, hence they're a little more sensitive to the schedule impact. Other than that, AFTPs on your 14 off: go bananas; Mandatory UTA, sure, no problem; etc.

Maybe a month or so

Very excited to interview at Kalitta. It's been a long time goal of mine to fly heavys and the best part.....cargo. I've been studying the gouges and reading "Ace the Technical Pilot Interview". Is there anything else? Do most people interview in suits or Blazer and slacks?

Most everyone is in a suit, best foot forward and all. Although one of our guys lost his luggage and interviewed in jeans and a Puma soccer jersey...got hired😂.

The class splits in two, half do the personality/compass (about 2 hrs) and half do the HR. Everyone thinks they fail the math so don’t worry. You swap halfway.

For the compass test I used the trainer on latest-pilot-jobs. It is near identical to the test K4 uses. Not “similar to,” near identical. I did the 30 day access.

Big question everyone gets is on the 16/14 schedule, can the family hang with it, etc. My wife asked if I ‘had’ to be home 14 whole days...🙄

Connie wants to hire 100+ by January so there is no better time. We had 12/16 hired and most everyone got the call in the Airport on the way home.

Good Luck!

Is being a US citizen a definite requirement? I’m a green card holder and former UK military (although flown USAF aircraft) and currently in the regionals. Kalitta seems ideal but is the citizenship requirement a stopper?

Yes, it is a mandatory requirement. I think it is because of DOD contracts.
