Quote: You might wanna check out this site for more info about CBD Oil. I become more aware and was able to understand about it thru that site. But yes you should be aware of the quality and THC of the CBD that you are going to buy. Hope this helps

Right. You wanna play I bet my future on a podcast? If you or ANYONE ELSE has legitimate studies that would stand up to SCIENTIFIC scrutiny then by all means get that information to the FDA and we'll get the stuff FDA approved and THEN we can start the process of getting it FAA approved.

The difference between the food supplements and actual FDA approved medications is that the FDA demands that medications show EFFICACY, i.e., that they REALLY WORK, whereas supplements only need to demonstrate that they don't kill you, at least in the short term. And these largely unregulated supplements are frequently adulterated with anything the manufacturer thinks might make them a little bit more likely to work, including prescription medications DEFINITELY not approved for flying:

To me anyone willing to bet their wings on a product of unproven efficacy with known issues of contamination lacks the good judgment I would expect in a soloed student pilot, far less that of a professional aviator. It's like saying to fill the tanks with number 2 diesel instead of Jet-A, because it MIGHT work, and PROBABLY won't jell at altitude.

Quote: AFAIK CBD is a non-psychoactive compound found in hemp, a version of the cannabis plant that is low in THC, the part of cannabis that gives pot its high. An FDA-approved drug for the treatment of seizures, Epidiolex, contains cannabis-derived CBD.Dec 23, 2018.

The number of FDA approved anti-seizure medications that will NEVER be approved for fliers is legion.

Let's not forget here that to test positive, you have to be over 50 ng (nanograms) of THC metabolites per ml (milliliter) of urine. That is way beyond the amount to make a second hand smoke claim credible. The NFL recently doubled their threshold for a positive test, bringing it up to the DOT level mentioned above. Just because something is detectable for a short time after ingestion, doesn't mean it will result in a positive test.

You will get busted with anything over 15ng FAA/DOT.

50ng flags a screen, 15ng confirms analysis. So no CBD. Won't do squat for you anyway. The real deal nowadays? 1-3 months separation for squeaky clean again on anything resembling routine use, 40 or past. Telltale metabolites linger in aging fat. If it's a one off excursion, I'd wait at least 2-3 weeks and test discretely before rolling dice on a DOT submission. No longer in the game? Be mindful of concentrates, don't just rush out to Chipotle in the Miata until there's some tolerance. Lots of folks around thinking weed can't hook. Untrue.

Whopper of a run-on sentence. 1st post no less. Meto says bot. I just pray this doesn't turn into another one of those Kush v. Haze things. CBD, worth neither the $ or alveoli, IMO.

Its ubiquitous cousin? Meto backs legalization but can't endorse use. Specifically not for DOT designated, safety sensitive personnel. One of the sought after qualities Mary Jane delivers is lowered anxiety through altered perception of time & distance. For many users, both external and internal triggers of urgency, relent. A conflict with demand for error free, time pressured tasking. IOW, somebody's going to have to clinically prove out a return to fitness interval via amended testing protocols and sell that to a bevy of apoplectic watchdogs. Whom, may I ask, will lead this great charge for aviator substance liberty? Where's the money coming from? Even IF aeromedical inexplicably bought positive ng's at state equivalent, DUI thresholds, go try and find some zany rep to introduce a bill. DOA. Laughed out of committee long before ever reaching vote. Meaning regrettably, potheads continue to enjoy a privilege you don't. Ha. Ha, ha. https://youtu.be/DC-DSHbZHlM
